About

Welcome to Homemaking with the Saints where I share home decorating, from-scratch meals, and celebrations from the Liturgical Year!

My name is Michelle. My husband Colby and I live in South Louisiana with our baby boy, and we are Catholics doing our best to live the Liturgical Year in our home. We dream of raising many children together on a homestead and simplifying our lives.

In the meantime, I’m always trying to improve my homemaking skills, while also learning how to care for my family with whole foods and herbs. Sourdough has been my newest kitchen adventure and I’m having lots of fun with it!

Homemaking

My favorite kitchen activity has always been baking. I believe that it is definitely worth all the dirty dishes it leaves behind!

Decorating our home is another homemaking task I enjoy. It’s fun swapping out seasonal decor and rearranging the items that stay out all year.

The biggest challenge I’m facing as a homemaker is celebrating saint feast days and other holy days regularly in our home. Finding traditions around some holy days and determining how our family will celebrate can certainly be a bit tricky. Each holy day that comes though, we learn a little more and get a little better at uniting our home life with the Liturgical Year.

I recently started learning about herbs and how to use them to treat whatever illnesses come our way. I’m excited to make tinctures, teas and more with the use of herbs.

When I have some free time, I really love reading, listening to podcasts and music, crocheting, taking walks, going antiquing and going to Hobby Lobby. But, my absolute favorite thing is being a wife, mother and homemaker. I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

I love the family that God has blessed me with and I’m excited to watch us grow!

Fun Facts

I grew up as an only daughter with three brothers.

I did martial arts for 15 years and earned my 4th degree black belt. My first job was being an instructor.

I took piano lessons growing up and my only regret is that I didn’t keep practicing. I can still play a little, but I’m very slow about it.

I was in the choir for 12 years and only recently stopped.

Join me in my Homemaking with the Saints as I discover more traditions, cook and bake for my family, and make our house a home!
